GALLOWAY, NJ (February 22, 2023) -- Susquehanna University dropped its first game of the 2023 season on Wednesday, falling in road non-conference action to Stockton University 18-11 in women's lacrosse play. 

The host Osprey (1-1) scored five of the first six games before Kelsey Homberg and Allie Kutler tallied back-to-back scores to make it 5-3 with a minute to play in the opening quarter. Stockton would score three unassisted goals to take an 8-3 lead, taking a 10-5 lead into the break. 

After halftime, Susquehanna got as close as four at 12-8 after a goal from Hannah McNamera, but three-straight scores for the Osprey including a woman-up goal by Mary Meduri goal made the score 15-8. Nikki Genovese scored unassisted to start a 3-1 stretch for Susquehanna to make the score 16-11, but two late goals put the game away for Stockton. 

Caitlin Harvey finished with four points on three goals, adding a team-high eight draw controls to go with three caused turnovers. McNamara added three points on two goals and one assist, while Homberg and Genovese registered two goals apiece. Kutler also recorded a goal and six draw controls, and Emmy Regan finished with six saves. 

Stoctkon held a 36-24 edge in shots on Wednesday, while Susquehanna added a 20-12 advantage in draw controls. 

Aubrey Giordano finished with seven goals and two ground balls for the Osprey, while Isabella Marinello and Meduri each scored four times. 

The River Hawks (1-1) will host Misericordia University Saturday, February 25 at 3 p.m. at Sassafras Field in non-conference action.
