DALLAS, PA (September 1, 2023) – SU men's cross country competed against 13 other teams during their first meet of the season at the Misericordia Invitational Friday. The men came in fourth overall in the 4K race with 83 points, with Lebanon Valley, Misericordia, and Marywood ahead of them, respectively.
The River Hawks gained three top ten performances for the record books. Junior Terence Grenda placed fifth out of 120 with a time of 12:53.0, which comes out to a 35-second personal best and fifth all-time. Freshman Evander Lackman's time of 12:54.7 served as the sixth-best time in school annals and good enough for seventh in the meet. Freshman Asa Alderman already entered the record books with the eighth-best time ever, scoring points with a time of 13:12.8 and a placement of 16th. Micah Zellers took 39th at 14:02.3, while senior Declan Griffin hit a 30-second personal best with a time of 14:32.9. The race also saw the strong debuts of first years Lucas VanDine finishing 22nd at 13:28.0, Hunter Valentino placing 53rd at 14:20.7, and Kenny Battistelli turning in an 85th-place finish at 15:24.9.
Susquehanna will keep the competition going next weekend when they head to Juniata Friday, Sept. 8.
