Men's Soccer Scores Dramatic Equalizer, Tie 2-2 with Haverford

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - The Susquehanna men's soccer team battled with Haverford Tuesday night, coming out with a 2-2 tie following a late equalizer by MJ Dungo.

The River Hawks would come under early pressure, requiring Holden Miller to clear a shot from a Haverford attacker off the goal-line, having faced a barrage of shots blocked by Clay Yannazzone. The River Hawks took the lead in the 20th minute, scoring when Max Paczewski's cushioned header was struck home by Adrian Dilascio.

The River Hawks would hold that advantage into the half-time interval, but surrender the lead shortly after as Andrew Peebles headed in a short corner routine for the Fords, squaring the game in the 47th minute. Haverford would soon after take the lead, scoring in the 59th minute when Alex Millones steered a low drive past goalkeeper Santiago Andino to make it 2-1. Andino, starting for the second game in a row, made two saves from 12 shots faced in the match.

The River Hawks saw the momentum turn in their favor late on, although the River Hawks were forced to face four more shots in between the goal from Millones and the late, 87th minute equalizer from Dungo.

Dungo's goal came when Ben Sweeney's cross was directed off the feet of Max Paczewski and into the path of the first-year Dungo, who made no mistake in dispatching the chance and making it 2-2 in the dying moments of the match.

Dungo nearly wrote himself another story with what would have been a dramatic winner, but his last-minute effort was clawed out by Haverford goalkeeper Dylan Ioffreda.

Despite being outshot 12-5, the River Hawks came away with a tie, taking them to 0-1-1 on the season in the early going. They will travel to Virginia to their next game, a Friday night clash at Shenandoah. They return home again on September 19th, when they take on Elmira in another 7 PM showdown.
