Women's Soccer Drops Clash With Moravian

SELINSGROVE, PA - Susquehanna women's soccer dropped its Homecoming Weekend clash with Moravian, losing 2-1 on a day where all three goals were scored in the first half.

Moravian opened the scoring just under two minutes into the game, scoring directly from a corner kick taken by Chelsea Meltzer.

The River Hawks equalized with their first shot of the day, scoring in the 16th minute when a cross from Ava Billmeyer ricocheted in the penalty area before finding its way to Rachel Rinehart in front of an empty net, as Rinehart made no mistake for her first collegiate goal.

The Greyhounds scored their second goal on another corner by Meltzer, whose delivery found Carly Pyatt for the second goal by the visitors in the 39th minute.

The River Hawks took eight shots on the day, including seven in the second half, but were outshot 10-8 by the Greyhounds. The foul battle was even at seven each, and Moravian had six corners to the River Hawks' one, all in the first half.

Katie Henchy continued in goal for Susquehanna, making four saves on the day. Goalscorer Rinehart led the way with four shots and two on target, while Billmeyer contributed with two. Gigi Duncan and Emma Eberle also added shots.

The River Hawks drop to 5-8-2 and 1-4-1 in the Landmark Conference ahead of a midweek trip to Juniata on Oct. 23. They return home to face Scranton and Dickinson before concluding their regular season at Drew on November 2nd.
