BLOOMSBURG, PA - It was "Susky vs. Husky" Saturday afternoon as Susquehanna's men's swim team made the short trek to Bloomsburg for a dual match against the NCAA Division II Huskies. The River Hawks used the upper-level competition to size up and post some impressive times.
The foursome of
Brandon Sutherland, Tim Wetmore,
Eskander Bierman, and
Akira Black opened the day with a 1:44.68 time in the 200-yard medley relay. From there more good times followed as
Dan Venuti took in a 1:55.56 time in the 200-yard freestyle to lead Susquehanna, while
Joey Wayne set a new season best in the event at 2:00.09.
Eskander Bierman did the same in the 50-yard freestyle with a season-best and team-leading 23.52. Wetmore clocked in a new PR in the 400 IM at 4:42.36, as did
Liam Halligan and
Kade Cimakasky in the 100 butterfly at 1:01.99 and 1:04.48, respectively.
Keegan Pence dropped the team's best time in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:30.72, then to close things out the team of Wayne, Smith, Sutherland, and Halligan turned in a 3:33.61 time in the 400 freestyle relay in the meet finale.
Head coach Kelley Hilliker's team has a busy weekened coming up, visiting York (Pa.) on Friday, Nov. 8 then going up the road to Messiah on Saturday, Nov. 9.
