SELINSGROVE, PA (February 7, 2024) – Susquehanna women's basketball continued their impressive run of play on Wednesday evening with their fourth-straight win, beating Lycoming 79-50 and clinching a place in the Landmark Conference Tournament with three games to go in the regular season.
The River Hawks put on a dominant display in all facets of the game, shooting over 50 percent from the floor enroute to their fourth-highest points total of the season. Impressive passing and offensive efficiency yielded assists on 23 of the River Hawks' 32 made field goals, with Julia Pinckert leading the way with a season-high of nine helpers, tying her second-highest career total. Julia Roth followed just behind with six assists, adding to her line of 13 points and nine rebounds. She also racked up five steals as SU totaled ten of them, playing stifling defense with Lycoming shooting just 30.2 percent from the floor.
Kaitlyn Lynch led the team in scoring with 16, adding three assists, a rebound, a block, and a steal. Kenzie Selvaggi would be the third River Hawk to reach double digits, scoring ten points. In total, 12 different River Hawk players would register a point, helping the team score 30 points in the 4th quarter alone, outscoring the visiting Warriors entire second half total of 24 points.
With a playoff berth sealed, the River Hawks will now look to earn the right to host a Landmark postseason contest for the first time in program history, currently sitting in fourth place with a two-win advantage over Drew in fifth. They'll return to action at home on Saturday, hosting #8 Scranton as part of a home doubleheader with the men's team and celebrating Senior Day. The women's game will tip off at 4 pm.
