Softball Visits Moravian in Saturday Landmark Twinbill

BETHLEHEM, PA – Susquehanna softball embraced their second doubleheader in as many days Saturday, this time in Landmark Conference action at defending league champion Moravian in both teams' first rematch since last season's Landmark Championship game. The Greyhounds brought the bats with eight runs in both games, taking the first 8-0 and the nightcap 8-1.

Susquehanna returns to the diamond this Tuesday hosting Juniata for an afternoon twinbill starting at 3:00 p.m.

MORAVIAN 8, SUSQUEHANNA 0
Moravian jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings off an RBI double and a two-RBI single in the first, followed by a wild pitch that brought home  a run in the second. While the Greyhounds were held scoreless for the next two innings, the River Hawks were held hitless throughout the contest behind Madi Cunningham's six innings of perfection with three strikeouts. She helped out her own cause in the fifth inning with a bases-clearing double to score three more runs to make it a 7-0 game. One inning later Moravian put it in the books adding one more run on an RBI double to center field to force the eight-run rule.

MORAVIAN 8, SUSQUEHANNA 1
Susquehanna broke its silence in the fourth inning when Emily Deitch hit a solo home run to left field to get on the board. The run, however, was not before Moravian put up six runs between the first and third innings. The Silberman sisters, Marcie and Emily, contributed to MU's first three runs, with Marcie getting the first on an RBI single, then Emily getting the next on a first-inning sacrifice fly and a ribbie single in the third. Three more runs were added in the bottom of the third thanks to Ajala Elmore's two RBI double to left center and Natalie Otto singling to right field for another run. Following Deitch's homer the Greyhounds added two more when Emily Silberman hit an RBI single to left center, then Sydney Andrews adding one more in the sixth when her groundout to second brought in the runner from third.

Brianna Jones pitched the duration of the game, striking out four with 12 hits allowed in six innings of work and 105 pitches thrown. Zoe Bork and Nicole Plesh accounted for the remainder of the River Hawks' three hits in the latter contest.
