Susquehanna Swept by Gettysburg

SELINSGROVE, PA - Susquehanna's volleyball team was swept by Gettysburg in three sets by scores of 25-19, 25-13 and 25-14 on Wednesday night in Houts Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The first set began with Gettysburg getting ahead 12-7. Susquehanna would answer back with three straight points featuring a kill from Valerie Soltz. They then tied the score at 13 after back-to-back kills from Stella Robinson.
  • Gettysburg regained the lead following a 5-point run and were able to take set one 25-19.
  • The second set featured another early Gettysburg lead that Susquehanna was able to come back from. With the score tied at nine however, Gettysburg scored 13 of the next 15 points. A kill by Mary Huegel put the third set away for the bullets 25-13.
  • Set three began again with Gettysburg getting up early 6-2 with Susquehanna trying to crawl their way back for the rest of the set.
  • Gettysburg had runs of three or more points four times in set three as they were able to hold on to win 25-14.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
  • Libero Jessica Sack continued her dominance in the digs department, recording 16 digs against Gettysburg.
  • Stella Robinson led the River Hawks in kills with eight. Sami Kline also recorded six kills herself, with Valerie Soltz contributing with five kills as well.
  • Susquehanna committed 17 attack errors and five service errors. This contributed to the River Hawks' showing a .090 attack percentage with 26 kills, while the Bullets shot .291 with 44 kills and 12 errors.
  • Gettysburg had four service aces to Susquehanna's two, carried out by Amelia Secor and Elliott Schleicher
UP NEXT FOR THE RIVER HAWKS 
  • Susquehanna travels to Wilkes Barre, Pa. for a double header Saturday, Oct. 4, first against Widener University at 2 p.m., and next a match against King's College at 4 p.m.
