Men's Soccer Closes Book on 2025 Against Goucher

SELINSGROVE, PA - Susquehanna men's soccer hosted Goucher College on Tuesday night in the final game of their 2025 campaign, and were narrowly beaten with an early goal, the only one despite chances at both ends.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Susquehanna started the game on the front foot, with Marcello Pannone's early effort on the volley tipped over by Goucher stopper Ale Sternini, who came up with another save to deny another volley from John Kuderka.
  • Further shots in the opening minutes came from Sam Netzley and Luke Edwin, but both had chances blocked by Gopher defenders.
  • The Gophers hit the front on the counter-attack in the 9th minute, as although Jason Krum made an impressive initial save, he was unable to keep Bryan Machado out on the follow-up attempt.
  • Edwin took another shot for the River Hawks in the 17th minute, but his right-footed hit missed agonizingly past the left post, while Angelo Zografos had two shots off target before the interval, including a well-hit free-kick from distance that seemed destined for the net, but was blocked.
  • Krum came up with a save at the start of the second half, before Netzley's free-kick from distance was saved by Sternini.
  • A throw-in by Kuderka put Zografos in behind the Goucher defense, and his attempted lob over Sternini was pushed onto the crossbar before going over the top. The resulting corner fell for Pannone, who narrowly missed the top left corner.
  • Zografos, Netzley, and Liam Raney all had shots miss off target in the final minutes, while Aidan Diglio forced two late saves from Susquehanna services into the penalty area, but the River Hawks ended unable to break through.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • The River Hawks had a 16-12 shooting edge, with six on target to Goucher's five. Seniors accounted for 11 of those shots, led by Zografos with four, on their final appearances for the team.
  • Krum made three saves in goal, aided by a goal-line clearance from Cole Kline. Susquehanna won eight corners, conceding seven, and committed nine fouls while earning 15 free-kicks from fouls by the Gophers.
  • Jim Findlay made eight changes to the team for the final game of the season, as Krum, Netzley, Edwin, Aaron Mowrer, Pannone, Hayes Webster, Josh Higgins, and Raney all started the final game of 2025.
UP NEXT FOR SU
  • That's a wrap on the 2025 campaign for the program, who finish the year 5-10-3. Their eight seniors move on, and although their presence will be missed, the returning players will be looking eagerly ahead to 2026 with an additional year of experience under their belts.
