River Hawks Look Ahead to Third Straight Championship Game; Tickets Available for Purchase

SELINSGROVE, PA - Susquehanna field hockey won a thriller against Elizabethtown on Tuesday, defeating the Blue Jays 2-1 to advance to their third straight Landmark Conference Championship game. The River Hawks head to Scranton to take on the Royals of The University of Scranton on Saturday, November 8, with the match starting at 1 p.m.

HOW WE GOT HERE:
  • Susquehanna played a close battle against Elizabethtown in the semifinals game, after earning a first round bye for the third straight season. 
  • The Blue Jays kept the offensive powerhouse River Hawks at bay through the first 30 minutes of play, allowing a mere three shots through the first two frames of action.
  • Heading into the third quarter, the River Hawks were unable to amount to any offense, being forced to play defense almost the entirety of the quarter. 
  • Elizabethtown stuck first, sending a ball past SU goalkeeper Kylie Schmidt, sending the game to a 1-nil lead heading into the fourth quarter of play.
  • Susquehanna was held to little offense through the first half of the final quarter, before Emma Campitelli sent a pass to Haley Dreisbach, who buried the ball behind the Blue Jays goalkeeper. 
  • The River Hawks continued their offensive surge, with yet another pass down the middle from Campitelli, hitting the stick of Jada Thompson, who scored the eventual game winning goal. 
  • SU held on for the reaming six minutes to defeat the Blue Jays and advance to their third straight Conference championship game. 
  • The River Hawks will play The University of Scranton on November 8, with Scranton defeating Wilkes University 3-2 in the other semifinal match up.
  • SUFH defeated the Royals in each of the previous two seasons, with a win coming in 2023, where SU won in penalty strokes.
  • In 2024, SUFH stormed a come from behind win, scoring three straight goals in the fourth quarter to once again win the Landmark Conference.
