SELINSGROVE, PA - The Landmark Conference announced
Julia Roth as its Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week following three stellar performances that saw the senior forward acquire double-doubles in each contest. Roth helped to lead the team to two high-profile wins in Puerto Rico, defeating Union and Montclair State Thursday and Friday following a double-digit win against Eastern on Tuesday. This is Roth's second Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week honor this season.
Roth started her stellar week with a double-double against Eastern, where she netted 12 points to go along with 10 rebounds. Susquehanna defeated Eastern 67-51 ahead of their trip to Puerto Rico. Roth continued her dominance down south when she scored 11 points to match her 11 rebounds against Union, seeing the River Hawks capture a 63-44 win for their ninth win by double digits. Roth's final outing of the week came against Montclair State, where she dropped a game-high 20 points, including the game-winning layup with less than three seconds in regulation. Roth pulled down 12 rebounds in the win to help the River Hawks advance to 10-1 on the season, currently the second-best overall record in the Landmark Conference and the team's best start since 1982-83.
Roth and the River Hawks take a short break for the holidays before returning to action at Landmark Conference foe Lycoming on Wednesday Jan. 7, followed by a key meeting with Scranton at The Palestra on Sunday, Jan. 11.
