Women's Lacrosse Opens Season on Road at Dickinson

CARLISLE, PA - The 2025 chapter of Susquehanna women's lacrosse was opened on Wednesday afternoon with a road non-conference meeting at Dickinson. The Red Devils made their mark on the game early by scoring the first 11 goals towards a 13-4 victory.

The River Hawks were tasked with facing off against a Red Devils team that already opened their season on Saturday with a high-scoring 16-3 win over Lebanon Valley. Dickinson carried this over with four goals apiece in the first quarter and second quarters for an 8-0 halftime lead, with Sage Whiteside and Delaney Herbert logging two scores in this stretch. The goalie work of Susquehanna junior and last year's IWLCA's All-Region selection Aerin O'Brien is not to be counted out as she batted away five shots and keeping the scoring spread out. Two of Dickinson's goals were scored on free position opportunities. The River Hawks remained collected, firing off seven shots on goal in hopes of getting on the board in the first half.

After three more Dickinson goals consumed the third quarter, the River Hawks got on the board in fourth, outscoring the Red Devils 4-2 in the final period. The honors were done by Nicolette Genovese, Allie Kutler, Sophia Trively, and Abby Andrus, with Liv Owen assisting on three of them. Dickinson's Abby Geary led the game with five points on three goals and two assists, while Whiteside and Herbert finished with the two goals they scored early. Owen was SU's points leader with three thanks to her assists, while O'Brien presided in net for the whole contest, securing 15 saves on 28 shots faced. The final shots totaled favored Dickinson, 42-18. The River Hawks cleared the ball 16 times on 22 attempts, while the Red Devils fared 17-of-18.

Susquehanna hopes this Saturday and its own Sassafras Field will help bring them into the win column when they host Misericordia in a noon matchup.
