Men Battle Tight at Elizabethtown, Set Sights on Landmark Tournament

ELIZABETHTOWN, PA - Susquehanna men's lacrosse dropped their regular season finale to the Blue Jays of Elizabethtown by a 13-7 score on Saturday in their final test before next week's Landmark Tournament. Having punched their ticket last week, they received the number-six seed for the tournament which begins Tuesday as the River Hawks make a visit to third-seeded Drew in a 7 p.m. matchup.

The Blue Jays came out hot against the River Hawks, ripping off six straight goals, spanning across the first and half of the second frame of play before Susquehanna could earn their own goal. Jack Gaillard scored the first two goals for SU, being assisted by Steven Musser on his second goal of the afternoon, resulting in a man-up opportunity. Sean Yamada earned his first assist of the season, shooting a ball to Pat McDermott who buried it behind the Blue Jays netminder. Susquehanna trailed 6-3 at the half.

E-Town dropped four goals on the River Hawks in the third frame, when SU was able to score two on the Blue Jays. Brennan Lorence teamed up with Pat McDermott to score the fourth Susquehanna goal, followed by Steven Musser scoring an unassisted goal. Susquehanna trailed after the third frame 10-6.

Brennan Lorence was the lone River Hawk to score in the remainder of the match, as he scored SU's seventh and final goal of the regular season unassisted. The Blue Jays tacked on three insurance goals to clinch the game 13-7.

Susquehanna, armed with a 12-5 overall record and 5-4 league mark, represent the sixth and final seed of a highly-competitive conference slate. They look to become the first sixth-seed to advance in the Landmark Men's Lacrosse Tournament since the field expanded last season against a Drew squad that they defeated earlier this season 10-7. The Rangers topped out the regular season at 10-6 overall and 6-3 in the Landmark.
