Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse | | Dan Graham

Women's Lacrosse Season Ends in Semifinals at Scranton

SCRANTON, PA - Susquehanna University's women's lacrosse had a lot to be proud of heading into their Landmark Tournament Semifinals matchup at top-seeded Scranton. As the fifth seeds they exacted sweet revenge on fourth-seed Moravian on Tuesday with a 13-8 win to travel to face the top-seeded Royals. The home team lived up to its billing by scoring the first 11 goals, though the River Hawks strung together six second-half goals as the final score read 16-6 in favor of the Royals.

Junior Abby Andrus and senior Emma Kelleher each netted two of the team's scores on the day to lead the team. Andrus pushed her season numbers to a team-best 38 goals, while entering the offseason with the notice that she is now at 97 career goals with 108 points. Also on the scoring front for the River Hawks was senior Allie Kutler, who finished her career with 98 goals and 129 points, as well as a career-high 28 goals and 33 points this season. Emma Kelleher scored Susquehanna's third goal to make it a 13-3 ballgame to start the fourth quarter, wrapping up her time in an orange and maroon uniform with 59 points for second-best on the team this season and 35 goals. She also administered 133 career points with 85 goals and 48 assists. Waverly Oake-Libow turned in the final goal of Susquehanna's season, goal 195 to be exact, as she completed her sophomore season with eight points on four goals and four assists. Senior Liv Owen, who assisted Andrus' second goal of the day in the fourth quarter, completed 2025 with 74 points, good for seventh all-time, while rankings second all-time with 46 assists in a season with 28 goals. She is tied for third all-time with 238 career points, while becoming the first person ever at Susquehanna to reach 100 career goals and 100 career assists with 108 and 130, respectively. Junior goalie Aerin O'Brien recorded six saves on the day, bringing her career total to 422 saves with a 23-17 career record.

Susquehanna enjoyed a great season filled with many redeeming qualities. The vast departure of talent last season would have made it easy for the River Hawks to look at 2025 as a rebuilding year, but a late season surge put many teams in the Landmark on notice as the team finished with a 5-4 conference record. In the regular-season finale against Elizabethtown in a battle of two teams with a 4-4 league mark, Susquehanna put the hurt on the blue birds with a 14-7 victory, giving them the Landmark Tournament opening round matchup they craved as the fifth seed and traveling to Moravian, a team that had beaten them back in March by a 14-6 score. This time around the Greyhounds were stunned to find the River Hawks out in front early 4-0, and even though a comeback tied things up at 6-6 at halftime it was all Susquehanna in the second half. They tallied seven more goals and shut Moravian out the entire fourth quarter in the convincing 13-8 playoff win.
