Seniors Lead Women's Soccer Over Muhlenberg

SELINSGROVE, PA - Susquehanna women's soccer got four goals in an emphatic win over Muhlenberg on Wednesday, all coming from their senior class as they beat the Mules 4-0 to wrap up a four-game homestand in which they collected three wins.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Early chances came and went for both teams, but Susquehanna scored with their first shot on target as a free-kick from midfield by Chloe Michaels found Kalie Quaglia in behind, and she poked the ball beyond the goalkeeper to open the scoring.
  • Quaglia had the other Susquehanna shot on target in the first 45, coming in the 38th minute when her shot was repelled by the Mules' goalkeeper.
  • The River Hawks came out for the second half strong, with Caroline Slunt firing narrowly high three minutes following the restart.
  • Olivia St. Amand played a through ball in behind the Muhlenberg defense that Morgan Stickley raced on the end of, and she slotted past the goalkeeper to double Susquehanna's advantage.
  • Moments after Stickley found the net, she was played in under similar circumstances, this time from Gigi Duncan's pass, and before she could take a shot, she was hauled over in the penalty area for a spot-kick. Sydney Williams stepped up, and kept her composure as she put the ball in the bottom right corner to make it three.
  • Slunt had another couple of chances in the 65th and 66th minutes, with the first one rolling narrowly wide, and the second being saved. She also took the River Hawks' next shot in the 82nd minute, which was a powerful volley that missed high.
  • Ashley Marchessault had a chance to add the fourth, but her effort from close range was hacked off the line by a Muhlenberg defender.
  • In the final minute of the game, Stickley won a corner with seconds left on the clock, and with just enough time to deliver it, she picked out Williams, whose half-volley sailed in to put a cap on an impressive win with the final kick of the game.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Susquehanna held a 16-5 advantage in shots, with an 11-1 lead in the second half as they scored three goals in the second frame. Seven of their shots found the target, while Katie Henchy was called upon to make three saves for the River Hawks, all in the first half, as the River Hawks kept their third clean sheet of the season.
  • Slunt led the way with four shots, followed by Stickley's three. Quaglia and Williams each took two, both of which found the target, and between them, three resulted in goals.
  • Stickley's game was the first time she registered both a goal and assist in the same game, while Williams scored her first career brace to take the team lead with four strikes on the campaign. St. Amand registered her first assist of the season after contributing with two in 2024, and Michaels added her second assist of 2025. Quaglia's opener was her first of the year after managing three a year ago.
  • The only change to the Susquehanna starting eleven saw Rachel Rinehart earn a start up front.
UP NEXT FOR SU
  • A four-game road trip comes to an end with the River Hawks coming up with three 4-0 wins while outscoring their opponents by 13 goals to two. They travel to Marymount on Saturday, September 20th, before two more home games come in the following week with Stevenson and Scranton, the latter representing Susquehanna's Landmark Conference opener.
