MADISON, N.J. – The Susquehanna University field hockey team held a pair of one-goal leads at Drew Saturday afternoon in a Landmark Conference contest. The Rangers, however, matched the River Hawks' efforts each time, leading to overtime and where Drew had the final say with Bella Fini's walkoff score to take a 3-2 win.
How It Went Down
- Susquehanna struck first in the opening quarter when Haley Dreisbach found the back of the cage at the 10:07 mark. Sydney Jordan assisted on the goal, giving the River Hawks a 1-0 advantage that they carried into halftime.
- Both defenses kept the game scoreless through the second and third quarters as Susquehanna continued to pressure the Drew defense. The River Hawks finished the contest with 12 penalty corners, including nine through the first two quarters.
- Drew evened the score at 1-1 early in the fourth quarter when Emily Caporrino scored at 50:16. Susquehanna responded late, earning a penalty stroke that Jada Thompson converted at 58:30 to put the River Hawks back in front, 2-1.
- Drew, however, received one more opportunity with a penalty corner in the final seconds. As regulation time expired, Caporrino scored her second goal of the afternoon to force overtime.
- The Rangers completed the comeback in the extra period when Bella Fini scored at 63:13 off an assist from Ellie Kopec, securing the 3-2 victory for Drew.
