SELINSGROVE, PA - Susquehanna baseball fell to Wilkes in the opening game of Landmark Conference play. After a defensive battle that saw the two teams knotted at three, Wilkes' Devin Markert sent a ball out of the park, clinching the win for the Colonels.
Wilkes 5-Susquehanna 3:
- Neither team was able to find any offense in the opening innings of the game, with Wilkes earning the first two hits of the game. Susquehanna notched their first hit of the game in the second inning with a Lincoln Hower single to shortstop.
- Heading into the third inning of play Paul Daly sent a double to left field, advancing Dylan Heyduk home for the first run of the game. Lucas Zachesky sent a SAC bunt to the Wilkes pitcher, giving Andrew Haussman a chance to take home plate. Susquehanna led 2-0 entering the fourth inning.
- The Colonels cut the SU lead down to one in the fourth inning, with Susquehanna holding on until the sixth.Â
- The Colonels took their first lead of the contest in the sixth inning, knocking in two runs to take the 3-2 lead.
- Rocco Scarpitti was hit by a pitch, walking in Lucas Zachesky for the tying run in the eighth inning.
- Susquehanna took to the ninth in a tie game, before Wilkes Devin Markert sent a ball out of the park, scoring two runs for the Colonels, taking a 5-3 lead into the bottom half of the frame.
- Susquehanna was able to load the bases in the ninth, but the Wilkes defense prevailed, winning the game 5-3.

- The River Hawks earned three hits during the contest, with Dylan Heyduk, Andrew Haussman, and Lucas Zachesky all earning one. Wilkes earned four hits during the game.
- Luke Goodwin earned the start for SU, working 4.1 inning on the mound. Goodwin struck out six batters allowing only two hits and one run. Nate Fronheiser worked 1.1 innings on the mound, with Evan Applegate earning 2.1 innings. Applegate finished his day striking out three batters. Zach Plank finished the game for SU, pitching one full inning.
