SELINSGROVE, PA - Susquehanna baseball took down Juniata College to notch their first win of the season in Landmark Conference play. The River Hawks defeated the Eagles 5-2 after an offensive sixth inning gave Susquehanna the lead, one of which they would not relinquish.
Susquehanna 5, Juniata 2:
- Susquehanna was the first to strike, with a Dylan Heyduk single up the middle, resulting in Michael Girardi taking home plate for the first run of the contest.
- The Eagles immediately responded in the second inning, knocking in a run to tie the game at 1-1.
- Both defenses stood strong until the sixth inning, where the SU offense exploded for four runs.
- Michael Gagliardi singled to right center, sending Girardi and Lincoln Hower home for the first two runs of the inning.
- Paul Daly sent a sacrifice fly out to right field, giving Michael Gagliardi a chance to take home plate for the third run of the inning.
- Susquehanna's final run of the contest came when the bases were loaded and the Eagles pitcher was called for a balk.
- The Eagles tacked on one run in the 8th inning, but the SU defense prevailed victorious, clinching their first Landmark Conference contest win of the season 5-2.
