SELINSGROVE, PA - Susquehanna baseball carried on their busy weekend welcoming Gettysburg for a Sunday doubleheader, just one day after visiting fellow Centennial Conference foe Dickinson for a Saturday twinbill. The Bullets took game one by a 17-4 score, then had a 4-0 lead in game two before it was declared a no contest due to inclement weather with one out in the top of the fifth. A decision on a makeup date for the suspended game will be made at a later date.
GETTYSBURG 17, SUSQUEHANNA 4
- After two scoreless innings, Susquehanna starter Luke Goodwin had a difficult time with the Bullets' lineup the second time around. Gettysburg brought home the game's first run on a sacrifice fly.
- On the very next at bat with two runners on, Jack Amirata homered to make the score 4-0. The Bullets scored two more runs on RBI singles before Goodwin left the mound.
- River Hawks reliever Dominic Giglio came on to get the inning's third out, but not before Gettysburg plated four more runs in the frame, highlighted by another home run by Will Stellato with a two-run shot.
- Susquehanna got one run back in the bottom of the fourth when Lincoln Hower delivered a RBI double to score Lucas Zachesky.
- Giglio shut the bullets out over the next four innings before the River Hawks got another run courtesy of Dylan Heyduk's triple to right center to put him on third, then scoring on a wild pitch.
- Zach Plank came on in relief if Giglio in the eighth, pitching a 1-2-3 inning. The River Hawks rallied in the bottom half with two runs as Hower provided a sac fly, while Michael Girardi brought home CJ Orrego on a RBI double.
- The Bullets were far from over with their scoring as they plated seven more runs in the top of the ninth. By the time Plank got the first out Gettysburg got two runs.Reliever Lucas Kimbrough came on for the final outs, but not before the Bullters scored five more runs.
- Susquehanna was set down in order in the bottom of the ninth.
- The River Hawks managed eight hits, with CJ Orrego leading the way batting 2-for-4 with a double.
- Dylan Heyduk's triple accounted for a 1-for-3 day for the senior, while Girardi, Owen Ayers, and Hower each had a double.
- Goodwin and Giglio each had two strikeouts on the afternoon, while Gettysburg starter John Francesconi struck out six in five innings of work to get the win. He allowed just three hits and no earned runs.
