VERO BEACH, FL - Susquehanna baseball took down the Comets of Capital University in a trip out to Vero Beach. The River Hawks offense struck early and hard, as SU notched 11 runs in the win. Susquehanna advances their spring break schedule to 4-1 with three games remaining down south.
Susquehanna 11-Capital 4
- Susquehanna 1-Capital 0- Michael Gagliardi sent a ball to the Capital second baseman, scoring the game's first run in the likes of Michael Girardi.
- Susquehanna 1-Capital 1- The Comets matched the River Hawks, tying the game back up at one all in the second inning of play.
- Susquehanna 8-Capital 1- Susquehanna's offense erupted for seven runs in the bottom half of the third inning. Gagliardi singled to left field, scoring the speedy Girardi. The River Hawks continued to put the pressure on the Comets when Paul Daly tripled to right center, scoring Gagliardi and Dylan Heyduk. The River Hawks next at bat featured Lucas Zachesky send a ball over the left field fence, scoring an additional two runs for SU. CJ Orrego added a triple in the inning, scoring Jaden Buechler. Lincoln Hower's single scored Orrego from third base for the eighth run of the day for SU.Â
- Susquehanna 10-Capital 1- The River Hawks tacked on an additional two runs in the fourth inning, with the first coming off the hot bat of Paul Daly. Despite grounding out to shortstop, Daly pushed Dylan Heyduk across the plate. Lucas Zachesky continued to highlight against Capital, sending a ball to right field, scoring Andrew Haussman.Â
- Susquehanna 11-Capital 3- The Comets cut into the SU lead in the top half of the fifth inning, but Susquehanna answered right away in the bottom half of the frame. Michael Girardi singled up the middle, scoring Lincoln Hower.Â
- Susquehanna 11-Capital 4- The Comets made it interesting in the ninth inning, loading the bases up, but only being able to score one run. Austin Ozarowski finished the game in the inning, striking out the final Capital batter of the contest.

- The River Hawks earned 15 hits in the contest, with Michael Girardi leading the way with three. Lucas Zachesky earned one home run in the win. Susquehanna finished the contest with 10 RBI's.
- Evan Applegate earned the start and the win for SU, pitching 4.2 innings on the mound. Applegate finished his day with five strikeouts, while only allowing five hits. Nate Fronheiser and Dominic Giglio both made an appearance in the contest, with both players earning one strikeout. Brayden McCourt earned 1.2 innings pitched with two strikeouts. Ozarowski finished the game working 1.0 innings on the mound with one strikeout.
