SELINSGROVE, PA - Susquehanna University baseball had their successful season rewarded with eight River Hawks mentioned to the 2026 All-Landmark Conference Team, as well as head coach Denny Bowers and his staff awarded Coaching Staff of the Year.
Left-handed starting pitcher
Josh Domaracki received First Team All-Landmark in a campaign where he won seven games and twice named Landmark Pitcher of the Week. Two more pitchers received praise on the Second Team between starter
Ben Gearhart and reliever
Austin Ozarowski. In the field two more River Hawks earned Second Team in outfielder
Dylan Heyduk and shortstop
Michael Gagliardi, as well as designated hitter
Paul Daly. Rounding out the list are two Honorable Mentions in catcher
CJ Orrego and first baseman
Andrew Haussman.
After a modest start to their season baseball turned the heat up in April for an impressive late-season run to earn the second seed for the Landmark Tournament with a 16-8 Landmark record. They finished second to top-seeded Wilkes, who they defeated in their regular season finale on May 2 17-7 as head coach Denny Bowers earned his 400th career win. The River Hawks entered the tournament on Friday playing Drew, having swept the Rangers during their season series by respective 10-6, 13-7 and 10-9 scores. They made it four in a row with a 12-5 victory to advance to play eventual Landmark champion Scranton. Susquehanna earned another three-game Landmark sweep against last year's conference champion Catholic, while taking two out of three in their conference series against Juniata, Elizabethtown, Scranton and Moravian. In addition to Domaracki, Gearhart earned Pitcher of the Week accords, while
Michael Girardi received Landmark Player of the Week.
FIRST TEAM
JOSH DOMARACKI: Started 11 games and pitched 62.0 innings with a 7-0 record... struck out 69 batters and a 3.48 ERA with a 1.29 WHIP... struck out a season-high 11 batters against Moravian on April 4, then struck out ten in the Landmark Tournament against Drew on May 8... Pitched a complete game at Elizabethtown on April 18 in a 1-0 victory, allowing three hits with five strikeouts while earning Landmark Pitcher of the Week.
SECOND TEAM
BEN GEARHART: Started nine games and pitched 57.0 innings with a 6-1 record... had 28 strikeouts and a 3.00 ERA with a 1.30 WHIP... earned Landmark Pitcher of the Week with two wins against Norwich on Mar. 1, striking out four batters with four hits allowed, and Northwestern (Minn.) on Mar. 7, posting four strikeouts with two hits... had a season-high six strikeouts against Juniata on Mar. 19, going seven innings strong in a 5-2 win... started the Landmark Tournament game against Scranton, going seven-plus innings with a pair of strikeouts.
AUSTIN OZAROWSKI: Emerged as Susquehanna's closer, finishing with five saves and amassing 21 strikeouts in 21.2 innings of work... earned a 2-1 record with a 5.40 ERA and 1.71 WHIP... picked up two saves in the weekend series against Scranton for two key Landmark wins... had three strikeouts against the Royals in 1.1 innings in 5-2 win.
MICHAEL GAGLIARDI: One of two players to start all 42 games... batted .341 with 56 hits, hitting six home runs with ten doubles and three doubles... logged a .431 on-base percentage, drawing 28 walks and 88 total bases... had a season-high four hits against Wilkes on May 2, batting 4-for-5 with three RBIs... enjoyed a stretch where he hit four home runs in six games, once against Catholic on Mar. 29, twice in the series against Moravian April 3 and 4, and once more against Lycoming on April 8.
DYLAN HEYDUK: One of two players to start all 42 games... batted a team-best .389 with 61 hits, totaling one home run with one triple and seven doubles for a .537 slugging percentage... earned a .503 on-base percentage, drawing 22 walks and 17 hit by pitches... stole 19-of-24 bases with 73 total bases... homered against Catholic on Mar. 29 in a 4-1 victory... finished tied for the career walks record with 108.
HONORABLE MENTION
CJ ORREGO: Started 38 games as catcher... batted .276 with 35 hits with one home run, four triples and five doubles for 25 RBIs... totaled 51 bases, drawing 20 walks and seven hit by pitches... had a season-high three hits against Heidelberg on Mar. 7, batting 3-for-4 with one triple and two RBIs... totaled a season-best three RBIs in back-to-back games against Drew on April 12 in a 10-9 win, along with Juniata on April 14 in a 12-6 win.
ANDREW HAUSSMAN: Started 40 games as a first baseman... batted .274 with 40 hits, nine doubles and three home runs for 25 RBIs... totaled 58 bases, drawing 26 walks with eight hit by pitches for a .407 on-base percentage... stole four bases on six attempts... homered against Franklin & Marshall on Mar. 11, Moravian on April 4, and Drew April 11... totaled a season-high four RBIs in a 4-for-5 day against Wilkes on Mar. 15.
