WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Susquehanna University field hockey team put together a dominant performance Wednesday evening, cruising to a 7-0 victory over King's College at McCarthy Stadium. The River Hawks scored twice in the opening quarter and added five more goals after halftime to earn their first win of the season.
How It Went Down
- Susquehanna wasted little time finding its offensive rhythm, as Jada Thompson opened the scoring in the 11th minute off an assist from Sydney Jordan. Taylor Rothermel doubled the advantage just 3:37 later, converting a chance assisted by Ella Shimp to give the River Hawks a 2-0 lead after one quarter.
- The River Hawks maintained control throughout the second quarter before breaking the game open in the third. Bailey Neff pushed the lead to 3-0 at 34:44 with her second goal of the season, followed by Nora Rumbaugh's first collegiate goal just 52 seconds later. Samara Campenni then added her first goal of the season at 40:16 before Haley Dreisbach found the back of the cage at 42:00 to make it 6-0 heading into the final quarter.
- Kiara Koeller capped the scoring at 53:43, scoring her first goal of the season off an assist from Asia Daskalakis. The River Hawks' defense held King's scoreless throughout the contest, completing the 7-0 shutout.
