Corey Russ joined the Susquehanna football staff in 2018 as an assistant coach working with the wide receivers. In his first season with the River Hawks, he led two to All-Centennial Conference awards.
Russ, an Orlando, Fla., native, came to SU after three seasons coaching and mentoring student-athletes at Mount Zion H.S. in Jonesboro, Ga. He was the offensive coordinator, quarterbacks coach, and return specialists coach for the Bulldogs. Russ also acted as the recruiting coordinator, helping to maintain academic test results, player transcripts, and HUDL highlight films for potential college-bound players. He had 19 players sign National Letters of Intent and guided 12 players to All-Region and All-Clayton County teams. Off the gridiron, Russ taught marketing education at Mount Zion.
He founded the Flight Squad Academy in Atlanta, which specialized in helping student-athletes hone their skills as wide receivers. Russ trained three of the Top 25 wide receivers in the country in 2017.
Russ earned four varsity letters as a member of the Morehouse College football team. A two-year captain, he earned All-Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Second Team honors as a kickoff return specialist for the Maroon Tigers. Russ also served on the Morehouse Football Leadership Council.
