Jay Terry joined the Susquehanna football coaching staff in March 2021. Terry coaches the River Hawks' defensive line.

The Bainbridge Island, Wash., native comes to Susquehanna following three seasons at his alma mater, West Virginia State University, in Institute, W.Va. He started out as the assistant offensive line coach in 2017 before being appointed the head tight ends coach in 2018. Terry ended his tenure at WVSU as the head defensive line coach and digital media coordinator.

He began his collegiate football playing career at Santa Barbara City College (Calif.) where Terry starred as a defensive end from 2013 until 2015. While at SBCC, he was named 2014 All-Pacific League Second Team and had a standout performance in the Golden West Bowl, earning him Defensive Player of the Game honors.

Terry transferred to West Virginia State prior to the 2015 season and played as a Yellow Jacket for two seasons. He picked up All-Mountain East Conference Honorable Mention honors in 2016. To cap off his remarkable collegiate career, Terry played on the winning side of the HBCU Spirit of America Bowl, racking up six tackles and a sack.

Terry earned his Associate's in Kinesiology from Santa Barbara City College (2015), before earning his Bachelor's in exercise science at West Virginia State University in 2018. He attained his Master's in sports administration from West Virginia State University in 2019.
