Leonard Humphries joined the Susquehanna football staff as an assistant coach in 2018. Humphries works primarily with the Rive Hawk safeties.

He brought to SU nine years of coaching experience as a linebackers and defensive backs coach at Football University, which provides position-specific training to football players from 6th-12th grades with NFL-experienced coaches and players. In 2017, he served as a defensive backs coach at the Chinese Arena Football League (CAFL) scouting combine.

Humphries is a former member of the National Football League's Indianapolis Colts for three seasons (1992, 1994 and 1995) as well as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1993). The Akron, Ohio, native was an All-Big East selection at Penn State University. He also played three seasons in the Canadian Football League for the Ottawa Rough Riders (1996), the British Columbia Lions (1997), and the Toronto Argonauts (1999).

He was a three-year letterwinner as a cornerback for Penn State, being named one of the Top 5 cornerbacks in the country by Sporting News as a senior. Humphries was an Honorable Mention All-American and played in the 1992 East-West Shrine All-Star. He was a three-time All-Big East selection and helped the Nittany Lions to three Lambert-Meadowlands Trophies as the outstanding Division I football team in the East in 1989, 1990, and 1991. Penn State played in three bowl games during his career - the 1989 Holiday Bowl, the 1990 Blockbuster Bowl, and the 1992 Fiesta Bowl.

Humphries was drafted in the eighth round of the 1992 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills.
