Heather Benson begins her first year with the Susquehanna volleyball program in 2021. Benson focuses on the defensive specialists.

She has been active in volleyball for over 20 years. Benson co-founded the women’s club volleyball program at the University of South Carolina and played regionally for a team in Charleville-Mezieres, France, while teaching abroad. She has also competed in adult CHRVA/USAV leagues before becoming a high school coach.

In nine years of coaching in Loudoun County, Virginia, Benson worked with freshmen, JV, and varsity programs; including a 2018 run to the 5A state semifinals as the head coach of the Freedom H.S. Eagles in Chantilly.

She has been teaching science in public schools since 2011. Before that, Benson worked for non-profit Research!America focusing on developing and analyzing state and national public opinion polls and planning forums featuring leadership of federal health research agencies.

Benson is a proud mama, voracious reader, and lover of all things nerdy.
