Daniel Graham was named Susquehanna University's Director of Athletic Communications in February 2023. He is responsible for one assistant and a student work staff in the supervision of Susquehanna's athletics department that includes 23 NCAA Division III varsity programs. In his time the River Hawks have captured Landmark Conference titles in baseball, indoor and outdoor track & field, football, and field hockey.
In his role Graham is the athletics marketing liaison, taking part in many campus initiatives that features fundraising drives, Athletics Hall of Fame, and the Football Ring of Honor. His arrival to Susquehanna coincided with the Landmark Conference's streaming deal with FloSports, an unprecedented venture for a NCAA Division III conference. Working with the university's Sports Media department, Graham ushered in many technological advancements to prepare for the FloSports transition, including the creation of a broadcast studio in Garrett Sports Complex to complement the studio in Apfelbaum Hall with live coverage of the River Hawks' home contests that includes football, soccer, volleyball, lacrosse, baseball, softball, basketball, track & field, swimming & diving, and field hockey. A new athletics website was implemented in Fall 2024.Â
Before his arrival in Selinsgrove, Graham served as the Associate Director of Athletic Communications at The Citadel in Charleston, S.C., assisting in the coverage of the institution's 14 NCAA Division I programs as the primary contact for Men's Basketball, Women's Soccer, Rifle, and Cross Country, as well as the secondary contact for track & field. Graham served as statistician for football and volleyball, while sitting in as public address announcer for baseball and wrestling. During this time he also was a statistician for the Charleston Riverdogs minor league baseball team.Â
Prior to The Citadel, Graham was the Sports Information Director at SUNY Delhi in Delhi, NY from August 2017 to December 2021. As the college's first ever SID, Graham provided coverage for the 19 intercollegiate programs, as well as recreation and intramurals, during the athletic department's transition to NCAA Division III. His time there witnessed three USCAA national championships in men's cross country and ACAA and NAC titles in men's and women's track & field, men's and women's cross country, men's golf and men's basketball. SUNY Delhi completed its NCAA Division III transition for the 2021-22 year, wasting no time to earn its first NCAA national qualifier in men's cross country that fall. Graham successfully promoted one back-to-back CoSIDA Academic All-American recipient and oversaw the rebranding of the athletics department to reflect the college's new identity in NCAA. This included new branding in the athletic facilities, an overhaul of the athletics website via PrestoSports, and initiating social media channels for the athletics department. He also assisted in the planning of a new outdoor turf field facility that opened in Fall 2022.
Graham's career in sports began via video production during his days as a student at Wood-Ridge High School in New Jersey, graduating in 2011 while earning the MSG Varsity Scholarship for his work in WRHS's video production program and taking part in the creation of the "Blue Devil Nation" monthly newscasts. He continued this work while studying at Bergen Community College, finishing in 2013 with his Associate's in Professional Studies: Broadcasting. While attending NCAA Div. III Centenary College of New Jersey (now Centenary University) he discovered sports information, working as a student assistant from 2013 to 2015 before earning his Bachelor's in Communication: Radio and Television. This two-year period for the Cyclones produced the men's soccer team's first CSAC championship in 2013, as well as a new outdoor turf field facility in spring 2014 that coincided with abilities to live stream more events.Â
His pursuit of a career in sports information led him to a graduate assistantship at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, a NCAA Div. II institution in Northwest Pa. that also sponsored NCAA Div. I wrestling. He was the primary contact for women's soccer, men's and women's tennis, women's lacrosse, and men's basketball, while providing digital coverage for the programs at championship events. He covered the wrestling program at the NCAA Div. I Championships, women's volleyball run to the 2016 NCAA Atlantic Region Finals, women's soccer reaching the 2015 PSAC Finals and NCAA Sweet 16, and oversaw live streaming as hosts of the men's tennis team's 2016 NCAA Atlantic Region II championship match. He graduated with his Master's in Communication Studies with a focus in Managerial Leadership in 2017.
