Hunter Pitman scored three goals,
Gabby Martin added two assists, and
Jenni Sabbak added a goal as the Susquehanna University Field Hockey team came back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Landmark Conference foe Juniata Wednesday evening at Sassafras Field in Selinsgrove.
The River Hawks (6-7 Overall, 2-2 Landmark) fell behind early, letting up a goal less than four minutes into the game off a Juniata (5-6, 2-2) penalty corner.
The Eagles would follow that up with another goal in the 18
th minute to take a commanding 2-0 lead. The rest of the half would be a back and forth affair, with neither team scoring over the remaining eighteen minutes of play.
Susquehanna came out firing in the second half, scoring four goals to power past Juniata.
Pitman got the River Hawks on the board just three minutes into the half on an assist from
Heather Casey.
Just three minutes later the team scored again on another goal by Pitman, this time with the assist coming from Martin.
Pitman scored her third straight goal and broke the 2-2 tie in the 55
th minute on another assist from Martin and Sabbak was able to pad the lead less than five minutes later to cement the 4-2 victory.
The River Hawks outshot the Eagles 9-6 in the second half, outscoring them 4-0 over the final 35 minutes. Emily Digaetano and
Veronica Green combined for four saves in net.
Susquehanna continues Landmark Conference play Saturday when they take on Goucher at 1 p.m. in Selinsgrove.
