Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Takes Down Juniata

Anna Werner scored the lone goal in the game and had a team-high six shots while Madison Welliver and the strong River Hawks defense held another team scoreless as the Susquehanna University Women's Soccer team defeated Landmark Conference opponent Juniata 1-0 Wednesday evening in Huntingdon.

The River Hawks (10-1-2 Overall, 3-0-1 Landmark) scored the only goal of the game early in the first half as Werner put in an unassisted shot into top part of the goal from the top of the box in the 17th minute.

Susquehanna's stellar defensive play continued, and they held another team in check for all 90 minutes of action.

The Eagles (4-7-1, 0-3-1) had two shots in the first half and added four more in the second half, but were unable to score as the likes of Welliver, Marley Clendenin, Erin Wilson, Kelly Tully and Brianna Caporuscio all made life difficult for Juniata's forwards.

Hayley Steinmetz, Kate Cantrell, Emily Sullivan and Werner all registered shots on goal for the River Hawks in the complete team victory.

Susquehanna out shot Juniata 13-6 and held the slight edge in corner kicks, 2-1. The team has not relinquished a goal in 865 minutes and has not lost a game in over a month. The team's unbeaten streak has reached ten games.

The River Hawks continue Landmark Conference play Saturday when the team takes on Goucher at 1 p.m. in Baltimore.
