Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Field Hockey Breezes Past Cabrini

Jenni Sabbak, Vivian Simone and AJ Smith each scored a goal while Hunter Pitman had two assists and Veronica Green delivered a shutout as the Susquehanna University Field Hockey team completed a 3-0 victory over Cabrini Tuesday afternoon at ER Dixon Field in Radnor.

Cabrini (3-8) came out strong, taking three of the first four shots of the game before Susquehanna (8-7) took a timeout at the 16:57 mark.

The River Hawks were able to settle in and began to take over control of possession and shots, as the team took two shots and three penalty corners over the next ten minutes of action.

The team was able to put a goal on the board in the 26th minute when Pitman sent a cross from the right side to the left post and the ball found Sabbak who tucked away the finish to give the River Hawks a 1-0 lead.

The last ten minutes of the half only saw one shot by either side, as Pitman had a ball saved and the River Hawks carried the one goal lead into halftime.

Vivian Simone was able to double the lead just over a minute into the second half on a one-touch shot from a pass across the box.

Leading 2-0 for the majority of the second half, AJ Smith put the finishing touches on the win with a goal of her own with less than a minute remaining.

Susquehanna out shot Cabrini 12-5 and did not allow a shot in the second half. The team has won five of its last seven games.

The River Hawks continue Landmark Conference play Saturday when they travel to the University of Scranton. The game is set to start at 1 p.m.
