Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball Falls to Oneonta in Susquehanna Trailways Tip-off Final

Tyler Hoagland led the team with 19 points while Zach Knecht and Matt LaCorte each added 13 points, but the Susquehanna University Men's Basketball team fell behind early and were unable to catch up to SUNY Oneonta in a 84-61 loss at O.W. Houts Gymnasium in Selinsgrove.

Oneonta (3-0) was able to get off to a hot start, scoring the first seven points of the game before Bryce Butler hit a three pointer and put the River Hawks (1-2) on the board.

Despite three pointers by LaCorte and Hoagland, Oneonta maintained a 16-9 lead and then proceeded to go on a 12-0 run to extend the advantage to 28-9.

Susquehanna would fight back, outscoring the Red Dragons by six points over the remainder of the half.

Hoagland, Dominic Dunn and Knecht scored every point in a 17-5 River Hawk run to cut the deficit to 34-26 at the 5:57 mark, but Oneonta went on a little run of its own and led 47-34 heading into the locker room.

A Hoagland three-pointer started a promising second half and the River Hawks hung in there for the opening minutes, but Oneonta pulled away midway through the final period.

Jaden Martin, LaCorte and Hoagland each had seven points over the final 20 minutes of action, but it wasn't enough as the River Hawks fell 84-61.

Knecht led the team in rebounds with six, but the River Hawks were outrebounded 44-30. Susquehanna made seven three-pointers and was 14-18 from the free throw line.

The River Hawks continue play Tuesday when they take local rival Lycoming at O.W. Houts Gymnasium. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
