How It Happened
  • William Paterson opened up with a three-point shot by Julie Rovito and never relinquished the lead. The River Hawks pulled within 9-5 at 2:47 behind an old-fashioned three-point play by sophomore forward Alanna Connolly (Whitehouse Station, N.J./Hunterdon). WPU went on to close the first quarter on a 13-2 run to stake a 22-7 advantage.
  • SU edged the Pioneers, 18-17, in the second period and headed into halftime down, 39-25. Connolly paced the River Hawks at the break with nine points while sophomore guard Erin McQuillen (Cresskill, N.J./Cresskill) and Comfort each tallied 10 in the first 20 minutes.
  • William Paterson dominated the third stanza, 27-10, holding Susquehanna to just three field goals, albeit two from downtown, and forcing them into seven turnovers. With under a minute left in the third, the Pioneers boasted their biggest lead of the game, 66-35, on a jumper by Chloe Kasbarian.
  • The River Hawks claimed the fourth frame, 18-15, as Comfort (6) and first-year guard Amanda Lemire (Auburn, N.H./Pinkerton) combined for 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting, including three triples.

Inside the Box Score
  • Comfort put up her third double-digit performance of the season as she finished with 14 on 5-of-11 shooting, including four three-pointers. She also added a season-best two blocks.
  • McQuillen ended the afternoon with 13 points, five rebounds, two assists, and a season-high two steals, stretching her streak to eight consecutive games with double-figure scoring.
  • Connolly contributed a season-best 10 points on the power of a season-high four field goals plus five boards.
