How It Happened
  • Susquehanna won the first period, 16-13, as the River Hawks jumped out to a 7-0 lead before stretching the advantage to 11-4 at 5:44. Lemire and sophomore guard Nevin Hoenninger (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) each had four points in the opening run. Senior guard Bailey Trell (Paxinos, Pa./Lourdes) drained a triple at 2:23 to give SU a seven-point for the fourth time.
  • The Blazers overtook the lead at the 4:13-minute mark of the second quarter as a Zara Whitfield three-pointer capped a 16-7 push, which began with 1:33 left in the first frame. Junior guard Rachel Sweger (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown Area) responded with a triple of her own just under two minutes later to put Susquehanna back on top, 26-25, but Hood would score the final three points of the half to go into the locker room with a narrow 28-26 margin.
  • Hood would open up the third period with a three-pointer to widen its lead to five before a 14-5 run over three-and-a-half minutes returned the lead to the River Hawks at 6:18 (40-36). Three consecutive triples, including two from Maggie Tien, would revert the advantage back to the Blazers, who grew the lead to seven. However, Susquehanna was able to cut it to 53-51 at the end of three.
  • In the fourth, the River Hawks were held to just three field goals and one free throw attempt while Hood shot 46.2-percent from the field with a pair of triples to seal the win and snap a two-game skid.
