Men’s Basketball Extends Winning Streak to Four, Powers Past Kings to Win Monarch Classic

Dominic Dunn led the team in scoring with 20 points as Seth Callahan and Dan Frauenheim each scored in double figures as the Susquehanna University Men's Basketball team defeated King's College 82-60 and captured the FNBC Bank Monarch Classic Championship Sunday afternoon in Wilkes Barre.

Susquehanna 82, King's 60

How It Happened
  • The River Hawks (6-3) started the game a little cold and the Monarchs (2-8) scored the first five points of the game before back-to-back three-pointers by Callahan and Tyler Hoagland gave Susquehanna a 6-5 advantage. The team extended that margin to 21-9, as Dunn capped off the 21-4 run with a made jumper.
  • King's would fight back late in the first half, trimming the lead to 32-30, but a bucket and a free throw by Frauenheim and made free throws by Jaden Martin gave the River Hawks a 37-30 lead at the break.
  • The Monarchs would hang around to start the second half, trimming the lead to two points several times, but the River Hawks always had an answer. A critical 8-1 run by Susquehanna ballooned a 51-44 edge to 59-45 with ten minutes remaining, forcing King's to call a timeout. Wes Simons had two points and Dunn had the other six over that stretch.
  • The lead continued to grow as the game came to a close, with the final score matching the River Hawks' largest advantage of the contest. John Kozinski scored the final six points of the game and the team won, 82-60.
