Hunter Pitman and
AJ Smith combined for seven of the team's 12 shots in a game where the Susquehanna University Field Hockey team out shot Ithaca 7-2 in the first half but could not find the net in a 3-0 defeat to Ithaca College Saturday afternoon in Ithaca.
The Bombers (5-1) got on the scoreboard early, netting one off a rebound in the fourth minute of action. The River Hawks (2-4) defense shut them down for the remainder of the half, not allowing a shot over 31 minutes of action.
Ithaca started the second half almost identically to the first when the second goal of the game was scored nearly four minutes into the period. The team added one more goal in the 53
rd minute to cement the victory.
The River Hawks took 12 penalty corners to the Bombers 11.
Emily DiGaetano had five saves.
Susquehanna continues their non-conference schedule when they take on Wilson College at 7 p.m. Thursday in Selinsgrove.
