Kelly Tully netted a goal from nearly 25 yards out on an assist from
Kate Cantrell in the 6
th minute of the game and the Susquehanna University Women's Soccer team continued to play stellar defense on their way to a 1-0 victory over Westminster College Saturday Afternoon in New Wilmington.
The River Hawks (4-1-1) only needed one goal in this game and it came just over five minutes into the contest. On a ball sent in by Cantrell, Tully was able to chip the Titans (4-2) goalkeeper who was off the end line and gave the team an early lead.
The Titans worked hard to equalize the score and proceeded to out shoot the River Hawks by one in each half but were unable to capitalize on opportunities. Susquehanna held the corner kick advantage 3-0.
Sam Chillis led the River Hawks with two shots while
Madison Welliver and
Chloe Wieczkowski combined for five saves in net.
Susquehanna continues non-conference play Wednesday when they travel to Wilkes. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
