The Susquehanna University Volleyball team opened the Clarkson University/Potsdam Tournament with a pair of 3-0 wins over schools from the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) by beating both SUNY Brockport and SUNY Potsdam Saturday afternoon and evening in Potsdam.

The River Hawks (6-4) opened the tournament with a straight sets win over Brockport by scores of 25-23, 25-14 and 25-20 and then later in the evening, knocked off Potsdam with set scores of 25-12, 25-20 and 25-19.

Against Brockport, Sydney Portale had eight kills and Kody Dillon added seven as nine different players recorded at least one kill. Lindsay Pugh handed out 21 assists and Lizzie Herestofa led the defense with 16 digs. Caroline Beohm added nine digs and Kasey Bost chipped in seven for the River Hawks.

In the Potsdam win, 13 different players recorded kills as Dillon led the way with seven. Brooke Lacesa and Abby Cannon each had four kills. Pugh had 22 assists and Samantha Balsamo handed out five while Herestofa led the defense again with 11 digs. Portale, Hannah Lyons and Lacesa combined for 10 blocks in the win.

The River Hawks continue play in the tournament Sunday with matches against Clarkson and Stevens Tech.
