Maxwell Reed had a free kick that hit the crossbar,
Alex Graul had a shot that forced a diving save, and
Matt Ellingworth had to make a few diving saves of his own for the Susquehanna University Men's Soccer team, but neither side relinquished any goals in a 0-0 game Saturday afternoon at Sassafras Field in Selinsgrove.
In an up and down affair, the River Hawks (1-5-2) created the first real scoring opportunity when a loose ball found its way to Graul inside the box. Graul fired a left footed shot and the Blue Jays' (1-4-3) keeper was able to make a save with his finger tips to keep the score knotted at zero.
Ellingworth did his part in keeping Elizabethtown off the board, sprawling out for a diving save on a header that seemed destined for the bottom left corner of the goal.
In the second half, Reed fired a free kick from 30 yards out that hit the crossbar squarely, but the River Hawks remained scoreless.
Despite playing a man down due to a red card being shown, the River Hawks managed to outshoot the Blue Jays 14-12 and take nine corner kicks to Elizabethtown's four.
Similarly to the opening ninety minutes of action, both sides played stellar defense in the box during the two overtime periods and the game finished as a 0-0 draw.
Ellingworth had four saves in net while Graul lead the team with two shots on goal.
The River Hawks continue Landmark Conference play on Saturday when they take on Moravian College at 1 p.m. in Bethlehem.
