Kathryn Perlowitz scored a goal in the 67
th minute on a feed from
Anna Werner and the defense held an opponent without a goal for the sixth straight game as the Susquehanna University Women's Soccer team defeated Landmark Conference opponent Moravian College 1-0 and extended its winning streak to seven games in a row Saturday afternoon in Bethlehem.
The River Hawks (8-1-1) played evenly with the Greyhounds (6-2-1) in the first half, as both teams were only able to muster three shots apiece.
As with many games this season, the River Hawks made adjustments at halftime and were able to put the pressure on Moravian's defense before ultimately scoring.
Werner created the first opportunity as she fired a shot off the crossbar. The ball rebounded to the feet of Perlowitz and she was able to tuck away the finish for her first goal of the season.
Susquehanna continued to pressure Moravian, as they fired off two more shots in the next minute of action but were unable to extend the lead.
The strong back line did the rest for the River Hawks, as they held another opponent without a goal. The second half was truly dominant, as they held a Greyhound team who was pushing forward to only two shots in the final 45 minutes.
Werner lead the team with three shots followed by
Kate Cantrell with two.
Madison Welliver had two saves in goal.
Susquehanna looks to continue its success Wednesday when they take on Penn College at 4 p.m. at Sassafras Field in Selinsgrove.
