Brooke Lacesa registered 20 kills and Hannah Lyons added 19 kills on the day as the Susquehanna University Volleyball team split a weekend series of Landmark Conference game Saturday afternoon in O.W. Houts Gymnasium in Selinsgrove.
The River Hawks (11-7 overall, 1-1 Landmark) started the day falling to nationally-ranked Juniata in three sets by scores of 29-27, 25-11 and 25-19 but rebounded to defeat Catholic University in three sets to cap the day. Susquehanna won the match by set scores of 25-20, 25-20 and 26-24.
Against Juniata (11-3, 2-0), Lacesa led the River Hawks with eight kills while Lyons and Riley O'Dowd each added seven kills as well. Lindsey Pugh handed out 25 assists and Lizzie Herestofa led the defense with 17 digs.
In the Catholic match, Lacesa added 12 more kills to her total while Lyons also had double-figures for kills with 12. Pugh added 37 assists and 11 digs while Herestofa recorded another 17 digs for the Susquehanna defense. The River Hawks recorded six aces in the win with two each from Kody Dillon, Kasey Bost and Herestofa.
The River Hawks continue Landmark Conference play Wednesday at Moravian and play at Cabrini and Arcadia over the weekend with neutral site matches against Wesley on Saturday at Cabrini and Johns Hopkins Sunday at Arcadia.
