Hunter Pitman had 11 shot attempts, including seven shots on goal while
Heather Casey and
Sam Banks had three shots apiece but the Susquehanna University Field Hockey team was unable to get on the scoresheet in a 1-0 loss against Swarthmore University Wednesday night at Clothier Field Stadium in Swarthmore.
The River Hawks (1-2) narrowly outshot the Garnet (2-1) by a tally of 10 to eight in the first half and neither team scored in those opening 35 minutes.
Swarthmore was able to convert on its only second half shot attempt with 25 minutes remaining to break the tie. Susquehanna outplayed the Garnet and created 13 shot attempts in the half but were held scoreless.
The River Hawks tallied 23 shots on the evening compared to only nine by the Swarthmore.
Susquehanna looks to bounce back Saturday when the River Hawks take on King's College at 1 p.m. on Sassafras Field in Selinsgrove.
