Hunter Pitman fired off seven shots and Heather Casey took four of her own in a game that saw the River Hawks take seven more shots than their opponent, but the Susquehanna University Field Hockey team was unable to score in a 2-0 loss to King's College Saturday afternoon on Sassafras Field in Selinsgrove.
The River Hawks (1-3) created several scoring opportunities early in the game but was unable to convert.
The Monarchs' (1-2) goalie had eight saves, making key stops at critical times for King's.
King's was able to flip the switch and put pressure on the River Hawk defense in the latter part of the first half, scoring their first goal with just over three minutes remaining in the opening period.
Susquehanna took 10 shots to King's five in the second half, but the scoring story remained the same. King's was able to score on one of its opportunities while holding Susquehanna scoreless
The River Hawks continue their season when they travel to York College for a 4:30 p.m. game Wednesday.
