Dunn, Knecht Lift Men’s Basketball in Win Over Elizabethtown

Dominic Dunn scored 22 points and added eight rebounds while Zach Knecht netted 16 points alongside eight rebounds of his own and the Susquehanna University Men's Basketball team used a strong second half to run away with an 84-70 victory over Elizabethtown College Saturday afternoon in Selinsgrove.

How It Happened
  • Knecht opened up the first half scoring with a bucket as both teams went back-and-forth to start. Elizabethtown (7-7 Overall, 2-2 Landmark) built a 12-8 lead, but Jaden Martin went on a personal 7-0 run to give Susquehanna (10-5, 3-1) a 15-12 advantage.
  • The remainder of the half did not see a lead surpass five points by either side, and Dunn carried the offensive load for the River Hawks. He scored 13 points in the opening 20 minutes, but three free throws from Elizabethtown's Brandon Berry trimmed the lead to 35-33 at the half.
  • Despite early buckets by Matt LaCorte and Bryce Butler, the momentum favored Elizabethtown early in the second half. The Blue Jays took a 48-43 lead, causing the River Hawks to call a timeout to regroup. Although Elizabethtown scored once more to lead 50-43, the River Hawks were able to right the ship and make a late push.
  • Free throws and a layup by Dunn and a huge three-pointer by Seth Callahan tied the game up and Danny Frauenheim gave the River Hawks the lead once more on a layup. Callahan added another three-pointer for good measure and the team was off and running.
  • Dunn, Lukas Yurasits, Callahan and Knecht all added huge buckets to close the game strong while Tyler Hoagland sealed it at the free throw line and the River Hawks won 84-70.
