Men’s Basketball Hands Scranton First Home Loss of the Season

Dominic Dunn posted a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds and four other players scored in double figures as the Susquehanna University Men's Basketball team defeated the University of Scranton 87-76 and handed the Royals their first home loss of the season Wednesday evening at the Long Center in Scranton.

How It Happened
  • The Royals (13-3 Overall, 2-3 Landmark) were able to score the first two buckets of the game, but the River Hawks (11-5, 4-1) responded and scored nine points in under two minutes of action to eventually take a 9-8 lead.
  • Susquehanna maintained a narrow lead for most of the half, with Scranton briefly taking the lead by one point a handful of times. Jumpers by Jaden Martin and Lukas Yurasits closed out the first period and the River Hawks took a slim 43-42 lead into the locker room. Dunn had nine points and seven rebounds in the half and Bryce Butler added seven points and six rebounds.
  • The second half started with the Royals jumping out to a lead, and extending it to 51-44 before the River Hawks called a timeout. Immediately after the timeout, Butler scored four points, Zach Knecht added two free throws and Dan Frauenheim nailed a three-pointer to tie the game at 53. Frauenheim then added a layup, Martin knocked down a three-pointer and Dunn scored a bucket to cap off a 14-0 run.
  • Leading 60-53, Scranton would slowly creep back into the game and get within three points, but the River Hawks kept a leading margin for the remainder of the game before pulling away in the end. Matt LaCorte and Yurasits scored key baskets before Knecht, Tyler Hoagland and Frauenheim put the game away from the free throw line and the team won 87-76.
