Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | David Johnson

Knecht’s 17 Points Not Enough as Men’s Basketball Falls to Catholic

Zach Knecht netted 17 points to go along with eight rebounds while Dominic Dunn added 14 points, but the Susquehanna University Men's Basketball team ran into some cold shooting in the second half and fell to Catholic 78-74 at Franny Murray Court in Washington, D.C.

How It Happened
  • Besides an opening three-pointer by the Cardinals (7-10 Overall, 3-3 Landmark), the River Hawks (11-6 Overall, 4-2 Landmark) started the game off strong, as Matt LaCorte, Knecht and Seth Callahan all made buckets to take a 7-3 lead.
  • Catholic would respond and take a 22-16 advantage halfway through the first period, but a 19-6 run by the River Hawks closed out the half and the team took a 35-28 lead into the locker room. Dunn highlighted the strong play with a three-pointer at the buzzer.
  • LaCorte and Dunn scored early in the second half for the River Hawks, but Catholic made a move to retake control of the game. As the River Hawks missed shots, Catholic's Andre Mitchell nailed several three-pointers and the Cardinals took a 61-53 lead.
  • Susquehanna would do its best to claw its back into the game, but the Cardinals kept the pedal down and hit several devastating shots at the end of the shot clock to keep a marginal advantage.
  • Dan Frauenheim hit a key three-pointer to cut the deficit to two points, but Catholic responded with a three of its own and the River Hawks ran out of time in this one, falling 78-74.
