Susquehanna 55, Drew 49
How It Happened
- Susquehanna and the Rangers were deadlocked at 15-all after one period of action. The River Hawks earned a four-point lead at 3:47 on a Comfort three-pointer and then a pair of free throws by sophomore guard Nevin Hoenninger (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) sent the two squads even into the second quarter.
- Drew opened up a 24-19 advantage halfway through the second. Both teams struggled offensively over the final five minutes but SU notched the final four points of the half to cut the deficit to 24-23 at the break.
- The Rangers stepped it up in the third frame, boasting a seven-point advantage twice at 6:42 and 5:09 following an 8-2 run to start the second half. However, Comfort and Hoenninger each tallied five points as Susquehanna scored 14 of the final 19 points in the third to grab a 39-37 lead on a jumper by senior center Haley Timko (Georgetown, Del./Delmarva Christian).
- Julia Ramos tied up the game for the seventh and final time with a jumper at 8:35. Then it was all SU as the River Hawks used a 13-5 run behind nine points from McQuillen to post a 52-44 lead with 2:14 remaining in the game. Drew closed the gap to five on an old-fashioned three-point by Ramos at 1:57 but would get no closer as Susquehanna moved into a three-way tie for second in the conference standings.
Inside the Box Score

- McQuillen finished with 14, 12 of which came in the second half. She was two assists shy of a double-double as McQuillen dropped a career-high eight dimes plus two steals.
- Sophomore Madi Welliver (Turbotville, Pa./Warrior Run) hauled in a game-best eight boards to go along two steals.
