Susquehanna Volleyball Goes 2-0 on the Weekend

Senior Lindsey Pugh records her 2,000th career assist

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 FREDONIA, NY. – The Susquehanna University volleyball team picked up two wins against Fredonia and Rochester in the tri-match Saturday. During the match against Rochester, Senior Lindsey Pugh picked up her 2000th career assist.

Susquehanna 3, Fredonia 0

How It Happened
  • The River Hawks (21-3) took down SUNY Fredonia (7-13) for a 3-0 victory.
  • In the first set, Susquehanna dominated the Blue Devils 25-10, putting up nine kills the Fredonia's five.
  • SU was able to take set two 25-19, with 11 kills and a .308 attack percentage.
  • The Blue Devils did not go down easily in the third set as the River Hawks edged past them 25-21.

  • Sydney Portale (Glen Mils, Pa./Garnet Valley) lead the match in kills with nine.  
  • Lizzie Herestofa (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) lead the team in digs with 14 while Rosina Esposito (Coraopolis, Pa./Montour) and Kasey Bost (Eldersburg, Md. / Liberty) were also in double digits with 10 and 11 respectively.
  • Fredonia's leaders were Emily Leone and Emma Booth with five kills each and Sierra Keim with 22 digs.

How It Happened
  • The River Hawks claimed the 3-0 against the Rochester Yellow Jackets in match two.  
  • Susquehanna edged the Yellow Jackets first set the first set 25-23, recording 14 kills.
  • Senior  Lindsey Pugh (Bear, DE. / Caravel Academy) picked up her 2,000th career assist in the first set.
  • The River Hawks dominated set two 25-11 scoring on 14 kills to Rochester's three.
  • SU again dominated the third set taking down the Yellow Jackets 25-15, recording 14 kills and a .500 attack percentage.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
  • Portale again led the team in kills with 14 while Esposito and Riley O'Dowd (Montville, Nj. / Morris Catholic) each had eight.
  • Herestofa collected a match-best 11 digs and Esposito had four services aces.
  • Veronica Kirchner (Drexel Hill, Pa. / Monsignor Bonner-Prendergast) had a match best two blocks.  
  • Kaylin Williams lead Rochester in kills with six while Sara Apanavicius recorded a team-best eight digs.
