River Hawk Field Hockey Takes Down Goucher 8-1

BALTIMORE, Md. – Five different players were able to score in the River Hawks 8-1 victory against the Gophers of Goucher College on Saturday afternoon in the Landmark Conference matchup.

How It Happened
  • Hunter Pitman (White Haven, Pa./Crestwood) was able to find the back of the cage first for the River Hawks off an assist from Gabby Martin (Green Lane, Pa. / Upper Perkiomen) just two and a half minutes into the game.  
  • Sophomore Sam Banks (Dallas, Pa. / Dallas) scored just five minutes later off an assist from Heather Casey (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown West)
  • It was Pitman again just under two minutes into the second quarter off an assist from Casey to put the River Hawks up 3-0 at halftime.
  •  The River Hawks put up three goals in the third quarter Allyson Heard (Pen Argyl, Pa. / Bangor Area) from Casey, another by Banks and the third scored by Jenn Sabbak (Little Falls Nj./Passaic Valley) assisted by Maddie Taylor
  • Goucher was able to score their lone goal of the game in the third quarter making the score 6-1 going into the fourth quarter.
  • Casey was able to find he back of the cage just over four minutes into the fourth quarter unassisted.
  • Heard scored the final goal for SU off an assist from Sabbak with just under three minutes to play in regulation.
  • Senior goalie Veronice Green (Slatington, Pa. / Northern Lehigh) made two saves during the contest.

  • Susquehanna was able to force 10 penalty corners while only allowing four and outshout the Gophers 16-5.
  • The Gophers finished the game with four goalie saves.

  • Pitman notched two goals on four shot to bring her total to 14.
  • Banks picked up two goals to bring her season total to 7.
  • Casey scored one goal and had three assists bringing her season totals to 2 goals and 8 assists.
  • Heard tallied her first and second goals of the season.
