Freshman Katie Hoerman notched three goals in her first collegiate game and Stephanie Dowling added two finishes of her own, but the Susquehanna University Women's Lacrosse team dropped a 19-7 decision to Misericordia Saturday afternoon in Wilkes Barre.
 
How It Happened

• Dowling and the River Hawks (0-1) got on the board first, as the team went up 1-0 with 27:21 remaining in the first half. Following a goal by the Cougars (2-0), 2018's leading goal scorer Kathrina DeMaio gave Susquehanna another lead on a made shot from long distance.
• Misericordia then slammed the River Hawks with seven straight goals, essentially putting the team out of the game halfway through the first half.
• With 11:37 remaining in the first half, Hoerman scored the first goal of her career to stop the Cougar run, but the team relinquished six unanswered goals and trailed 14-3 at the break.
• Three more goals by Misericordia to open the second half made it 17-3, which proved to be the largest margin of the contest.
• The River Hawks would score four of the last six goals as a bright spot, with Hoerman leading the way with two more goals. Dowling and Brooke Klair added to the goal total, but the Cougars prevailed 19-7.

 
Inside the Box Score

• Hoerman converted on all three of her shot attempts. She also picked up two ground balls and won two draw controls.
• Klair added two assists to go along with her goal. She and Hoerman had three points apiece.
• Dowling added two goals on just two shots and DeMaio added one goal. Libby Dex led the team with four ground balls. She also made ten saves.
• Kaila Quinlivan led the way for Misericordia with six goals.
