Women’s Lacrosse Scores in Final Seconds to Complete Thrilling Comeback Over Frostburg State

Gabi Toohey scored with 12 seconds remaining on a feed from Helena Woytovich to cap off a comeback victory for the Susquehanna University Women's Lacrosse team who defeated Frostburg State 14-13 Saturday afternoon at Sassafras Field in Selinsgrove. The goal was the fourth straight unanswered goal for the River Hawks in the final 3:37 of the contest.

How It Happened
  • Toohey was the first player for either side to score in the contest, but Frostburg State (1-5) was able to rattle off four straight goals to give the Bobcats a comfortable lead early.
  • The River Hawks (3-4) were able to tie the game at four goals apiece after back-to-back goals from Woytovich and another from Katie Hoerman, but Frostburg State rattled off four straight goals of their own and took an 8-4 advantage into halftime.
  • Trailing 10-4 after two more goals by the Bobcats, Susquehanna went on a key 5-0 scoring run to get themselves back in it. Toohey scored twice with Kaitlin Homberg, Kathrina Demaio and Christine Hoerman all adding a goal apiece.
  • The Bobcats would score three of the next four goals to take a 13-10 lead before the River Hawks made their push. Demaio gave the team momentum with a goal at the 3:37 mark and Christine Hoerman then rattled off two more goals in less than a minute to bring the team even with the Bobcats at 13 goals apiece.
